LEGAL
TERMS OF USE

1. The Services
Stitchplot is a browser tool that turns a photo or artwork into a counted cross-stitch chart. You upload or choose an image, set a colour count matched to nearest DMC thread codes, pick an Aida or evenweave fabric count, edit the chart, and export an editable SVG or a print-ready PDF. If you are signed in, you can save projects in a private library.
These Terms apply to Stitchplot at stitchplot.massill.uk.
What stays free forever. Creating and editing counted cross-stitch charts, choosing fabric count and DMC-matched colours, saving and reopening private drafts, and downloading editable SVG files are free (HK$0). PDF exports are not part of that free-forever promise.
PDF credits. A print-ready PDF uses one credit. A Google-verified Stitchplot account receives three PDF export credits. HK$29 is a one-time purchase that adds three more credits to your account. There is no subscription and no monthly commitment. Each credit covers one digital export (full-colour and black-and-white symbol charts, DMC floss key with stitch counts, finished size, fabric cut size, estimated thread use, and multi-page sections with 10-stitch grid lines). Fabric, floss and tools are not included. Current packaging is shown on Pricing; if Pricing and these Terms ever differ on packaging details, Pricing as displayed at purchase controls for that purchase.
Refunds. PDF credits and PDF exports are digital products and are non-refundable once purchased. If a PDF export fails or the file you receive is corrupted or cannot be opened, email info@massill.uk with your account email and the project name; once we confirm the problem, we will return the credit used for that export to your account. Returned credits are not exchanged for cash. This does not affect any rights you have that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.
Stitchplot is a creative tool. It does not give legal, manufacturing, stitching, safety, medical, professional-design or intellectual-property advice. You are responsible for checking whether each chart’s size, colours and production needs are suitable before you stitch, sell or manufacture from it.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Give accurate account details and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, email info@massill.uk straight away.
You may register with an email address and password or, where offered, Google sign-in. Google’s own terms and privacy policy also apply when you use Google sign-in.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Stitchplot only with a parent or legal guardian’s consent and supervision. Stitchplot is not directed to children under 13.
3. Your materials and outputs
Your materials are the images, files, text, settings, palettes, charts and other content you upload, create or save. Outputs are the charts, previews, SVG files, PDF patterns and other export files produced from those materials.
As between you and us, you keep any rights you hold in your materials and outputs. We do not claim ownership of them.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, process and transmit your materials only as needed to run, secure, support and improve Stitchplot for you. That licence ends when you delete the relevant project or account, subject to the legal and security retention described in the Privacy Policy.
Private materials and outputs are not used for advertising, public display or AI-model training unless you give separate, affirmative permission.
4. Your responsibilities
You confirm you have the rights and permissions needed to upload your materials and create outputs. You must not upload, create or use content that:
- infringes copyright, trade marks, privacy, publicity or other third-party rights;
- is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, harmful, abusive or deceptive;
- contains malware or tries to compromise Stitchplot;
- includes another person’s personal data without a lawful basis and, where required, consent; or
- breaks applicable law or these Terms.
Making a counted cross-stitch chart does not clear copyright or trade-mark rights in the source image. You remain responsible for permission to use images, characters, artwork, logos or other protected material, especially for commercial production, sharing or sale.
5. Private library and deletion
Saved projects stay private to your account; saving them does not publish them. You may delete an individual project from your library. Deletion removes its active record and associated stored source and preview assets from Stitchplot, subject to legal retention in the Privacy Policy.
Signed-in PDF patterns may remain in your private PDF library until you delete them or your account is deleted, again subject to the Privacy Policy.
6. Our intellectual property
Stitchplot — including its software, interfaces, branding, designs, documentation and underlying functionality — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. Except for the limited right to use Stitchplot under these Terms, no rights are granted to you.
You must not copy, rent, sell, sublicense, scrape, reverse engineer, interfere with, bypass security for, or build a competing service from Stitchplot, except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
Names and colour references for third-party thread brands (including DMC), software or hardware belong to their owners. A compatibility or colour-matching reference does not mean endorsement or affiliation.
7. Acceptable use and suspension
You must not use bots, scripts or automation to overload, scrape or interfere with Stitchplot; attempt unauthorised access; bypass usage or credit controls; impersonate others; or use Stitchplot in a way that may harm us, other users or third parties.
We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably needed to protect Stitchplot, investigate suspected breaches, comply with law, or protect users and third parties. Where practical, we will explain why and give a reasonable chance to fix the issue.
8. Availability, changes and exports
We aim to keep Stitchplot available, but it is provided on an as-available basis. Features may change, pause or be removed for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons. Keep your own copies of important source files and exports; do not treat Stitchplot as your only archive.
We do not guarantee that any chart or export will be error-free, visually identical to the source image, fit for a particular purpose, compatible with a particular fabric or tool, or free of third-party rights.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Stitchplot is provided without warranties, whether express, implied or statutory. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, loss of profit, loss of data, lost goodwill, production loss or business interruption arising from use of — or inability to use — Stitchplot.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.
10. Termination
You may stop using Stitchplot at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create legal or security risk, or where law requires it. Sections that should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give reasonable notice through Stitchplot or by email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Stitchplot before the changes take effect.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or connected with these Terms, except where mandatory law lets you bring a matter elsewhere.
